If using ATC, obtain IFR clearance.
Note down the initial altitude, SID (if any), expected departure runway, and squawk code.

Set the squawk code given by ATC.
On the FMS press TUN button
Use the keypad to enter the code, then click the line selector next to ATC1.

Leave the TCAS MODE on STBY

×

Turn on the seatbelts sign (below FMS)

Turn on the beacon light.
All doors and hatches must be closed at this point.
This is to inform the ground crew and other planes that the engines has started or about to start.

Click ENGINE STARTER R
Open the right ENGINE RUN/STOP cover
Click RUN

Monitor the right engine start until it is stable

Click ENGINE STARTER L
Open the left ENGINE RUN/STOP cover
Click RUN

Monitor the left engine start until it is stable

Avoinics to ON position

before taxi

Set the initial altitude given by ATC. If not using ATC, set the cruise altitude

In MSFS2020, press B
Or listen to AITS and dial the altimeter value

Move the climate control nob to NORM position

×

Adjust the elevator trim so the little white triangle falls within the green area

×

Set FLAPS to take-off. This is usually flaps 1 (15°), unless it is a very short runway or you require a steep climb due to terrain.

Must be turned on during night operation

Click on PASS BRIEF
Select TAKEOFF (LONG) or (SHORT) using the DATA outer nob.
Push to select

Change TCAS MODE from STBY to TA/RA (Traffic Advisories/Resolution Advisorie)

Turn on PITOT/STATIC HEAT 1 & 2 ON (left of FMS)

The TOGA button (take-off go-around) is on the throttle.
In the working title MOD, this is the button under the L ENG FIRE button.

Obtain transition altitude from airport charts.

The working title CJ4 will automatically calculate the top of descent (ToD) based on the waypoints restrictions in the flight plan.
Before ToD dial the altitude of the runway + 50 (this can be found in the LEGS page next to arriving airport altitude)
When the aircraft reaches the ToD, it will start descedning. Make sure to reduce thrust to avoid over speeding the aircraft during desceding.

The working title CJ4 will automaticallu dial the ILS frequesncy if the ILS approach is configured in ARRIVAL during entering the flight plan.
Check if the ILS frequency is entered correctly. If not, use the keypad to enter the ILS frequency into NAV1.

Click REFS MENU
Use the DATA outer nob to scroll down to MINIMUMS
Scroll to BARO or RA depending on the approach.
Use the inner nob to enter the minimums value
Push to select

Click on PASS BRIEF
Select LANDING using the DATA outer nob.
Push to select

Push the BARO nob to set altimeter exit standard.
Press B, or listen to airport AITS and dial the altimeter value.
Obtain transition altitude from airport charts.

FMC > PERF > APPROACH > (enter arriving airport weather info) > NEXT > SEND

At 20nm: speed 180 KIAS
Flaps 1
LOC captured APPR engage
At 15nm: speed 140 KIAS
GS captured GEAR down FLAPS full

When engaging the approach mode, the aircraft will track the glide slope/path and start descedning with captured.

Set the go-arround altitude once glide slop/path is captured.
Obtain the go-arround altitude from approach charts.

Disenage autopilot prior at or prior to minimums.
